SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS

  • Execute the full-cycle PFIC work process including corporate action research, data-cleaning client Canadian accounting records, finalizing deliverable files and preparing Annual Information Statements
  • Work with team members to monitor progress on all deliverables as per scope of work
  • Proactively identify any issues and solutions and make decisions to keep things on track. Ensure appropriate approvals are secured internally and with the client
  • Perform preliminary peer reviews of final workbooks for quality, format and content for adherence to the firm’s brand standards
  • Manage multiple clients/priorities simultaneously
  • Participate in researching application of accounting standards, review financial and governance
  • processes, accounting framework transition, comparison of different company practices, and
  • develop and provide tailored training
  • Participate in identifying areas for process improvements to realize efficiencies
  • Provide in-depth training, coaching and guidance for co-op team members.
  • Contribute to and/or facilitate meetings with team members
  • Understand the stock market industry and recognize key performance drivers, business trends,
  • and new technical and industry developments
  • Knowledge of various simple and complex corporate actions
  • Stay informed of new economic developments and their impact on clients
  • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service

Responsibilities:

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and research the tax treatments for various corporate actions from both US and Canadian tax perspectives
  • Review client Canadian accounting records related to securities trading and make the necessary adjustments according to US tax treatments
  • Assist Senior Staff and Managers with finalizing client deliverables
  • Prepare Annual Information Statements (AIS) for clients and their investors
  • Provide support and training for Co-op team members
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as they arise
  • Adhere to EYs policies and standards

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST HAVE

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Working towards, or have, a professional accounting designation (CPA) is strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and articulately both in writing and verbally
  • Extremely adept in software applications including proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Specifically Excel)
  • Strong project management skills, the ability to establish priorities, set and manage schedules, and coordinate multiple projects at one time
  • Organized, detail-oriented and highly deadline-driven
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing internal and client needs
