Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
Jefferson Solutions, a well-respected government consulting company of the Jefferson Consulting Group, a woman-owned small business, seeks a Localization Advisor to support the USAID/Southern Africa Mission. This position is required to be on-site in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Localization Advisor will support the Localization Working Group at USAID/Southern Africa.
The key objectives of the role are as follows:
- To facilitate a workshop for USAID/Southern Africa’s Localization Working Group. The workshop will produce terms of reference for the working group, a draft Localization Strategy/Plan for the Mission’s management’s review and approval, and a schedule of engagement events with local partners and USAID staff.
- To facilitate a Localization SWOT analysis for the Mission’s senior management.
- To train Mission staff on new Localization-aligned policies, Localization indicators, and on the use of the Agency’s Localization tools and resources to enhance their work.
- To plan how the working group members will provide support to Tech Teams/Regional OUs to achieve their localization goals.
- To develop the capacity of local implementing partners by following USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy
- To identify opportunities for the Mission to incorporate local voices in its development work.
- To develop a plan for the implementation of the A&A Strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 6 years of professional experience.
- Candidates with specific knowledge of USAID localization efforts and experience with implementing USAID plans and strategies is highly desired.
- Candidates must have strong communication skills with proven experience in strategy building and implementation.
- Candidates must be able to acquire a USAID Facility Access Clearance (FAC)
