Description:

Nexteer is looking for a business minded individual with experience in Product Costing/Cost Engineering/Cost Modeling to join the team as a Value Enhancement Manager for Mechanical Commodities. This position offers the right candidate the ability to interface with various functions within Nexteer as well as with suppliers at a global level in the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing processes, materials and costing related to the commodity.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial or other related engineering field (required)
  • 5-year minimum experience in Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Procurement;
  • Proven experience in Cost Estimating (preferably in Automotive industry)
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes for minimum one of the following commodities: castings, machining, assemblies, forgings, stampings, plastics;
  • Operating knowledge of design software and engineering tools;
  • Excellent at Microsoft Excel;
  • Excellent to work effectively with others in a Multicultural environment;
  • Self driven and motivated leadership and organization skills;
  • Ability to read blueprints and assess manufacturing feasibility;
  • High analytical ability in complex situations.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Product Line, Commercial Team and Engineering for cost competitive and efficient designs/processes as part of the cost roadmap development and provide support to understand cost structure and cost drivers;
  • Support as needed the evaluation of the validity of commercial quotes for engineering changes/DTC ideas through the use of cost models;
  • Develop Cost Models regionally for Nexteer’s supplier base based on prioritization from Commercial team;
  • Maintenance of the models as frequent as required, always obtaining the supplier agreement on the updated model;
  • Lead / Support Global Supply Management (GSM) in the negotiations with suppliers to get them to an “open book” relationship;
  • Coordinate with the pursuit team the use of the developed Cost Models in new programs quoting;
  • Through the development of the Cost Models, support the CIP regional leads in the discussions with the suppliers and Nexteer to improve efficiencies and eliminate waste to become more competitive;
  • Support the Cost Improvement Process (CIP) regional leads in VA/VE events;
  • Support if required Global Supply Management (GSM) in the negotiations with suppliers to get them to an “open book” relationship;
  • Ability to travel (local and international);
  • Participate in core and non-core training to increase personal and professional development.
