Pay
This position is a nonexempt position at pay grade 108.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of one of experience
- Vector Applicator License - within 6 months of being hired
- A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
- A valid driver’s license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
Responsibilities:
- Determine areas where mosquito traps need to be placed to monitor the population within the city.
- Responsible for gathering samples from the mosquito traps and submitting them to the Department of the State Health and Services for further analysis.
- Perform mosquito spraying with adulticide and larvicide. Spraying is conducted on a routine basis, when a high mosquito population is identified, and on a seasonal basis but can be done throughout the year as needed.
- Proactive abatement efforts shall be conducted to reduce mosquito breeding grounds.
- Will coordinate with other city departments to abate high grass, standing water above and below ground (including in stormwater lines), and other contributors to mosquito breeding.
- Will perform larvicide in advance of mosquito season.
- Will conduct evaluations of last season’s efforts and implement appropriate changes based on effectiveness of prior interventions.
- Document mosquito surveillance records on paper and electronically, including adulticide and larvicide spraying efforts.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation of chemicals for audit purposes and regulatory standards.
- Reports to internal City Departments, the Texas Department of License and Regulations (TDLR), Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
- Maintains accurate records of chemicals and actions concerning performance of Vector Control.
- Will be responsible for non-fleet preventative maintenance.
- Will service portable generators and small engines.
- Will service Health Department small off-road vehicles such as ATV’s or golf carts
