Description:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Some travel is required based upon business needs, rather locally or regionally. Travel may also be necessary to attend or provide training.
  • A current resume and cover letter are required.

WORK SETTING/HAZARDS:

Indoor and Outdoor. Exposure to workplace hazards is limited to those commonly found in government office environments. Workplace environment typical to mechanic style garage with sometimes performing job functions outside. Exposures to acid and base chemicals, oils, solvents, and slips, trips, and falls are possible. Duties also require the use of a 10,000lbs two post vehicle lift. Hazards associated include overhead impact and falling items, crawling under vehicles and the operation of power tools.

Responsibilities:

VIN Officers perform inspections of public and confidential vehicle identification numbers (VINs) to confirm vehicle identity. Inspections are conducted on all vehicles referred by the Department of Licensing (DOL) prior to the issuance of a Washington registration or Certificate of Title. In addition, the VIN Officer position assists the WSP and allied law enforcement agencies by identifying stolen vehicles and stolen vehicle parts.
