Responsibilities:

Serb Pharmaceuticals is a global healthcare company focused on Interventional Medicine with offices, laboratories and manufacturing sites globally. Here at Serb Pharmaceuticals our business provides lifesaving acute care products that help patients who have been overexposed to certain toxins or medications.
This position is for a permanent veterinarian (part-time or full-time) to join our team, where we manage the health and welfare of the Company’s sheep flocks and working dogs. This role is open to recent graduates and experienced veterinarians alike, competitive salary commensurate with experience. Previous experience with animal production systems, quality management systems or quality assurance will be highly regarded.

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to:

  • perform health testing, disease monitoring and treatment of disease conditions, from both the individual animal and flock health perspectives
  • contribute to the maintenance of a strategic health and welfare management plan
  • get involved with training our employees in relation to health and welfare issues
  • manage the preventative care and treatment of company working dogs
  • develop your interest in sheep medicine, animal welfare, pathophysiology, nutrition, sustainable farming practices or pasture management

A degree or equivalent qualification in Veterinary Science is a prerequisite, accompanied by a demonstrated interest in sheep production or sheep health management. All applicants must be eligible for registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia (VSBSA).
This is permanent position, however we are able to be flexible when it comes to part-time or full-time hours. The role has minimal sole charge, and very limited after hours – no weekday after hours, and weekends are 1:3 rota, day duties only (i.e. approximately 3 hours each weekend morning providing phone support and occasional duties requiring a vet to attend site).
The company also offers 5 weeks of annual leave (pro-rata), and additional company leave days around the Christmas period. Study leave to attend conferences/workshops/seminars also available to support your ongoing registration with VSBSA.
This role is complemented by a remarkable work location – the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia (1.5hrs from Adelaide). You will be working 15 minutes from a large regional centre, surrounded by the fantastic wineries and restaurants the region is known for. This opportunity provides you with a unique chance to gain experience with the health management of livestock in a commercial setting and develop an understanding of quality management systems, while contributing to the supply chain of lifesaving pharmaceutical products.
In addition, there is a rental property available onsite, negotiable for the right candidate. A comfortable 3 bedroom house, with recently renovated kitchen and bathroom, and a garage & garden shed, all situated in a fully enclosed yard.
Serb Pharmaceuticals are committed to its employees, values their contributions and experience, and are looking for someone who values team success and is motivated to achieve results. Apply via our website https://careers.serb.com
