Job Summary
NAV CANADA plays a unique and critical role managing the 18 million square kilometres of Canadian civil airspace and the North Atlantic oceanic airspace under Canada’s control. With over 100 staffed sites, 4,500 employees, and 45,000 customers, NAV CANADA is a publicly accountable, non-share capital corporation with operations from coast-to-coast-to-coast. They are one of the few fully private companies in the world wholly responsible for air traffic control, flight information, and other aeronautical services.
Within the context of enhancing and leading stakeholder relations, government and public relations, corporate and employee communications, corporate image, customer service, and community investment activities, NAV CANADA is seeking a dynamic Vice President and Chief Stakeholder Relations & Communications Officer (VP CSRCO) to join the organization’s executive leadership team.
Job Description
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Chief Stakeholder Relations & Communications Officer leads a team of accomplished professionals, fostering a collaborative culture that encourages innovative thinking. The VP CSRCO strengthens the organization’s stakeholder reputation through the design, development, and implementation of policies and programs, an integrated internal and external communications strategy, and represents the organization in legislative, regulatory, and community relations. Acting as an ambassador and spokesperson, they foster open communication between NAV CANADA and federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments, our customers, business associations, airport authorities, airline associations, academics, and special interest groups.
What you bring:
As the ideal candidate, you are a gifted and persuasive communicator with exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, and a proven track record in developing marketing/public relations strategies to enhance NAV CANADA’s relationships with high-level external audiences, including media and key corporate and government stakeholders.
You are a well-cultivated critical thinker who translates strategic thinking into actionable plans and excels as a strategist and cross-functional contributor on the senior management team. You offer NAV CANADA a bold vision and the energy to achieve its external affairs objectives, continually seeking new and innovative ways to enhance the organization’s stakeholder reputation. Your personal and professional credibility, along with your national networks, will strengthen NAV CANADA’s government and stakeholder relations efforts.
As a leader, you embody rigor, integrity, compassion, and objectivity. You have political acumen, excel in building relationships, and are skilled in policy advocacy and influence. Additionally, you possess strong people management skills and a talent for team building, mentoring, and coaching. Recognized as a clear and inclusive leader, you inspire teams to achieve ambitious results while championing NAV CANADA’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Your leadership experience in corporate communications within a complex, regulated business environment in Canada, along with your background in government relations, is essential, as is your proficiency in both English and French.
