Job Description
Position Summary
The Vice President, Reinsurance Technology will work with the SVP, Technology Services to oversee the overall technology function for the new BAM Re business, including the delivery of business solutions and technology services. This role will entail managing all Reinsurance technology operations and projects, application implementation, technology risk management, and technical support functions. The Vice President, Reinsurance Technology will also help assemble and lead a Technology team for the new Reinsurance business.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of Reinsurance (Risk, Portfolio Accounting, Actuarial Modelling, Treaty Administration) technology platforms, with overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of all Reinsurance technology applications, primarily, Blackrock Aladdin, Clearwater Analytics, Bloomberg and TAI

Effectively manage vendor relationships

  • Define strategic technology roadmap in collaboration with business partners and Brookfield Technology Services
  • Serve as conduit between technology stakeholders, managed service team, and business partners
  • Ability to understand and document business objectives or requirements, lead deployment and implementation of new Reinsurance applications
  • Lead technology vendor integration
  • Track technology budget, monitor and analyze the cost and effectiveness of technology service providers and applications
  • stablish best practices and controls for application deployments, database operations, strategic planning, vendor management, risk management
  • Implement risk management standards and controls to ensure identification and mitigation of all potential risks
  • Work to enhance productivity and efficiency throughout the organization through technology and automation

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Computer Science university degree/college diploma or equivalent (including but limited to Business, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering)
  • At least 10 years of experience in technology services within the reinsurance or insurance industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership roles
  • Solid knowledge of trade life-cycle management
  • STAT, IFRS 17 and GAAP understanding
  • Direct experience with managing multiple vendor relationships and implementation of new technologies
  • Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty in a new operating environment
  • Ability to handle complex and dynamic responsibilities, this is a new position and the role will evolve over time
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to synthesize and present information to all organization levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with others within and across organizations with professionalism and sensitivity to geographical and cultural differences
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ability to effectively lead, motivate, and communicate with an entirely new team in both virtual and in-person environments (when possible)
