About the role:
The Vice President of Financial Services will serve as a strategic and operational leader within Clio’s senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the VP of Financial Services will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Clio’s financial services strategy, focusing on operational excellence, revenue growth, and product innovation.
As a key member of Clio’s leadership team, the VP of Financial Services will own P&L responsibility for the financial services division, build a short and long-term roadmap to introduce new or enhanced products and services that drive revenue growth and collaborate closely with business unit leaders across key functional areas, including product, technology development, sales and marketing, account management, and finance.
This role will be the company’s senior leader and the go-to expert for the management team on the present and future of payments and broader financial services products. They will be responsible for staying abreast of the evolving regulatory environment and global best practices for developing and delivering world-class products, services, and experiences.
What your team does:
The Financial Services team is one of the fastest-growing departments at Clio. This team is responsible for defining our long-term financial services strategic roadmap and supporting the global scaling of our Clio Payments product, which is currently experiencing rapid growth.
The Financial Services team has a broad mandate that encompasses everything from developing and executing go-to-market strategies for each embedded financial product to building and managing financial technology partnerships. They work closely with other key stakeholders to identify new product and service opportunities, making sure that Clio continues to innovate and stay ahead of the curve in the legal technology space.

We launched Clio Payments in late 2021, and it has quickly become one of the fastest-growing legal payments solutions globally, processing billions of dollars in client payments annually. As we expand at an increasingly fast pace, both domestically and internationally, we seek a highly skilled and experienced individual to define the strategy and growth initiatives for our Financial Services organization.

What you’ll work on:

  • Collaborate with the executive team and other key stakeholders to develop and execute annual and longer-term strategic initiatives for the financial services business.
  • Oversee all aspects of Clio Payments to drive maximum adoption, utilization, and profitability while ensuring Clio Payments delivers on the best-in-industry customer and product experience.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with product development and go-to-market teams, collaborating on operational enhancements, product development, feature prioritization, and value communication with stakeholders.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of growth strategies for current and emerging revenue streams, driving continuous innovation and market expansion.
  • Engage with colleagues and customers to assess the current state of the Payments business, analyzing findings, implications, and opportunities, and reporting insights to the executive team.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent business review cadence, focusing on performance metrics and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct customer meetings to demonstrate Clio’s payment capabilities and competitive advantages, driving increased penetration of embedded offerings.
  • Identify talent needs and create business cases for new roles or reallocation of existing resources to support strategic objectives.
  • Proactively collaborate with regulatory experts to ensure Payment innovation aligns with industry standards while pushing boundaries to drive aggressive growth.
  • Serve as a senior leader at Clio, fostering collaboration across all levels of the organization to drive company growth, inspire employees, exceed customer expectations, and generate value.

About You:

  • Demonstrated executive leadership/ general manager experience within a high-growth SaaS company, with a proven track record of delivering results and effective P&L management within a matrxied enviroment.
  • Significant experience in B2B payments and financial services with a thorough understanding of integrated payments within a vertical SaaS context.
  • Proven ability to drive product strategy and management, including securing strategic partnerships and/or acquisitions to enhance client value propositions.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities in competitive and dynamic business environments, consistently driving continuous improvement and innovation to meet client needs and scale the business.
  • Operated successfully in growth environments, bringing high levels of energy and resilience with the ability to think and operate at a “strategic level,” but drive execution on a “tactical level” with the willingness to roll-up sleeves.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passionate commitment to the role, taking true ownership of responsibilities and diligently working to exceed goals and objectives at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to create and articulate an inspiring vision for the organization, aligning with the enterprise’s overall strategy.

The expected salary range* for this role is $203,000 to $377,000 CAD. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.

In addition, this role is eligible for variable pay that is based on company performance, with actual payout amounts calculated and paid on a quarterly basis.
