Job Title
VP, Gen AI Architect
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Tech Strategy and Transformation and working with the Mastercard Applied AI team, the VP is responsible for leading development of novel Gen AI solutions that leverage Mastercard’s unique capabilities in the payments industry. This role is responsible for value creation from data science by (a) by leading a team of data scientists, (b) leading experimentation and innovation to develop new Gen AI capabilities, and (c) designing systems to deliver new capabilities at scale.

The Role

1/ Leading a team of data scientists

  • Recruit, hire, and train distinctive data science talent with a focus on Gen AI
  • Serve as a senior technical leader on the team, guiding individual contributors in their development of data science solutions
  • Continuously raise the bar on the capabilities and impact of our data science solutions

2/ Leading experimentation and innovation to develop new Gen AI capabilities

  • Develop approaches to leverage cutting edge technologies such as LLMs, RAG, multi-modal bots, and federated learning to solve novel problems at Mastercard
  • Develop new commercial applications leveraging Mastercard’s proprietary data and capabilities within the payments ecosystem
  • Rapidly and iteratively prototype new solutions to prove AI value
  • Develop partnerships with academic institutions and other firms to enrich Mastercard’s own data and capabilities
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, continually applying new techniques to enhance analytical capabilities.

3/ Designing systems to deliver new capabilities at scale

  • Architect and lead the design and implementation of sophisticated data models in production, including enabling new consumption methods, retraining, tuning, label feedback, and exception monitoring.
  • Collaborate with AI strategists and AI architects to optimize the capabilities of Mastercard’s AI platforms
  • Align model design and management to Mastercard constraints concerning cloud vs. on-prem, data security, data localization, and responsible AI
  • Design models and architecture for efficient training and near-real-time inference

All about you

  • 10+ years of experience in AI with at least 3 in leadership.
  • Ability to define target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
  • Deep expertise in the latest LLM technology (GPT, Bedrock, Mistral, LLaMa, Huggingface, etc) and associated enabling technologies (RAG, vector databases, unstructured data processing)
  • Deep expertise in cloud computing environments, cloud native tools, end-to-end ML pipelines in the could, and GPU-enables systems
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Python, R, and CUDA
  • Experience with big data platforms such as Redshift, Snowflake and Hadoop
  • Extensive expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
  • Demonstrated ability to balance the delivery of projects against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management and creative resourcefulness
  • Experience in the payments domain preferred
  • Master’s degree or higher in computer science, analytics, mathematics, statistics, economics, industrial engineering, or physical sciences..
