POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Treasurer the VP, Treasury Investments develops and executes the Treasury investment strategy for CIBC Mellon for all funds designated to the investment portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Specific Knowledge & Skills (not preferred or an asset)

  • Undergraduate business or finance degree with MBA or CFA designation
  • 10+ years of progressive fixed income investment management experience
  • Experience in managing investments in a Treasury or bank environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of corporate banking services and practices
  • Understanding of Accounting Systems
  • Knowledge of fixed income products with focus on short term money market and high credit quality bonds
  • Experience in utilizing interest rate swaps in fixed income portfolio management an asset
  • Experience using Bloomberg
  • Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey to a broad audience market economic conditions, portfolio construction and selection and overall performance

Working Conditions Unique to Job (i.e. Standard Office Environment)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Treasury Investment management function operating a portfolio of high quality fixed income securities structured to deploy balance sheet funding
  • Structure the portfolio to meet target interest rate risk, liquidity and capital requirements
  • Optimize investment portfolio performance and net interest income within portfolio profile requirements and approved limits
  • Advise ALCO and senior management on interest rate and market trends and recommend investment strategies aligned to business objectives and NII outlook
  • Oversee and direct daily cash management and forecasting process
  • Execute and monitor the daily trade and administration activity associated with the management of CIBC Mellon portfolios
  • Communicate with and maintains relationships with representatives at other financial institutions, representatives of CIBC Mellon parent organizations and key business contacts to develop and maintain successful business relationships and to effect required transactions
  • Drive reporting, analysis of investment profile and performance in support of financial planning and results, , ALCO and communication with senior management at CIBC Mellon
  • As a member of the Finance leadership team, collaborate with other Finance leaders on long-term planning and strategic direction
  • Lead, coach and develop the Treasury Investments team, including setting performance objectives, conducting performance reviews and coordinating training requirements and development opportunities
