The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $19.43 to $21.24.
This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
The Victim Services Liaison provides assistance to victims of crime and their families through referral services and information. In addition, this position aids probation staff, and the court by providing victim training throughout the department and within the community. This position is also primarily responsible for initial contact with victims’ post-conviction and may assist in processing post-conviction notification request forms.
Standard Judicial Branch business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position is on-site and in-person but may be eligible for a hybrid teleworking schedule following six months of employment within the role (dependent on the needs of the Judicial Branch).

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications:

  • Other combinations of education and job-related experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • The Criminal Justice system
  • The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar

Skill in:

  • The use of computer applications including spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products
  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with victims, individuals from the public, all levels of the organization, and stakeholders from other departments
  • Typing a minimum of 35 words per minute with minimal errors
  • Communicating verbally and in writing with others to convey information clearly and effectively
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others from diverse backgrounds

Ability to:

  • Understand the needs, requirements, and constraints of victims/customers
  • Respond to victim/customer inquiries and requests in a timely and complete manner and resolve issues at the lowest organizational level
  • Maintain high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions and operate within a customer-centric model
  • Learn new skills necessary to support the needs and mission of the division, department, and judicial branch
  • Provide victims/customers with clear explanations and directions
  • Prepare written materials in a clear, concise and organized manner using the most suitable format for your audience

Essential Job Tasks

  • Serve as a point of contact for victims of crime seeking assistance and support to connect victims with relevant resources and service.
  • Provides customer service to a variety of individuals, to include but not limited to victims, victim representatives, probation officers, community partners, criminal justice agencies, law enforcement agencies, and individual companies via telephone and in writing.
  • Develop and deliver educational workshops, training sessions, and presentations on various topics related to victimization, trauma, and support services to individuals throughout the Department. This may include, but is not limited to; staff unit meetings, department COJET training and community training.
  • Records daily contacts in the case management system.
  • Processes victim post-conviction forms and keeps records updated.
  • Prepares essential documents using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products.

Working conditions:
Work primarily occurs in an office setting with some telework options once fully trained. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
