Description:

We are a fast-growing immigration law firm looking for a legal assistant to help review FOIA and court records in order to help our clients identify what potential immigration paths might be available to them. This position will work closely with our attorney and record collection teams. The ideal candidate will be skilled at creating focused summaries out of large amounts of information and will create thoughtful strategies based on that information for attorney review. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn more about immigration law, be goal-oriented, able to follow detailed instructions, and motivated to help our clients obtain documents and stay united with their families. Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with record collection team to identify and obtain relevant records
  • Review and summarize FBI background check requests, USCIS, OBIM, CPB, EOIR, and other similar records, as well as court documents
  • Draft summaries of key records received and proposal for path forward based on records for attorney review
  • Perform legal and factual research
  • Analyze case documents

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Familiarity with Immigration FOIA requests and U.S. court records preferred
  • Experience working in law-related roles in the past a plus!
  • Associates degree or paralegal certification required. Substantive experience working in a law firm or the field of immigration law may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Experience in using legal database software
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Computer skills (Typing - MS Word and MS Excel, Document Management - DropBox, Email - MS Outlook)
