POSITION SUMMARY:
One-Year Visiting position shared between English and Comparative Literature
Colorado College’s Department of English and Program in Comparative Literature invite applications for a joint, one-year visiting assistant professor or instructor to teach courses in English, Comparative Literature, Literatures of the Global South, and Literary Theory for the 2024-2025 academic year. Candidates should have completed or be completing (ABD) a Ph.D. in English, World Literature, Comparative Literature, or in another field of literary studies that focuses on the Global South. The successful candidate will teach six courses, including two sections of Introduction to Literary Theory, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The Department of English and the Program in Comparative Literature are committed to increasing the diversity of the College community and curriculum. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are particularly encouraged to apply. One distinguishing feature of Colorado College is its Block plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time. Each block is three and a half weeks long, and professors teach six of the eight blocks in an academic year. Applicants must therefore be committed to high-quality, innovative undergraduate teaching.
Visiting assistant professors and instructors at Colorado College receive competitive salaries, benefits, and professional development opportunities.
The College actively promotes a dynamic and inclusive environment in which students and employees of diverse background, cultures, and perspectives can learn and work. We are also committed to becoming an anti-racist institution in all of our policies, practices, and pedagogies. Applicants should describe the ways in which they can contribute to these goals in their application materials.
