The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Visual Designer to help us transform the experience on our websites and user facing portals!
The Visual Designer will create visually engaging, innovative, and functional web products for Vocus customers and teams. This will be achieved through the development of a visual design library. The design library is made up of standard visual components that enable developers to rapidly develop customer facing portals / web pages, while maintaining a consistent brand across Vocus digital assets. The visual designer will ensure Vocus meets Web Content Accessibility Guideline 2.1 Level AA standards.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Apply your strong understanding of typography, iconography, colour, and space to develop a visual design library that enables digital assets to be easy to read and understood.
  • Work with UX designers to define the atomic visual components required when developing user experience (e.g. buttons, tables, drop down menus, etc).
  • Work with developers to build and maintain a library of visual components that can be applied to user facing digital assets, and quickly updated in response to branding changes.
  • Work with marketing to ensure the design library is aligned to Vocus branding.
  • Ensure the design library meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, level AA.
  • Communicate clear and compelling ideas to a range of stakeholders.
  • Promote and educate others on new interface guidelines and design patterns.
  • Promote a self-service operating model by supporting the documentation of our design system.
  • Obtain feedback on designs via critique with peers.

What you’ll bring to this role

  • 3-5 years’ experience designing and delivering websites for large organisations from start to finish as part of a cross-functional team
  • Deep understanding of user centred design and system thinking. The ability to step back and see the larger ecosystem, with a focus on solutions that improve not just one feature but an entire flow.
  • Communication and active listening skills, with an ability to build and develop close, trusting relationships.
  • Experience using and contributing to design systems.
  • Solid knowledge of current design tools such as Figma, along with an ability to quickly learn new tools as they emerge.
  • Good understanding of digital trends and web/mobile technologies, and ability to evaluate the applicability for business solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must have high level of attention to detail and high level of creativity.
