Description:
Are you passionate about the potential of medical visualisation to drive understanding of innovative technologies and change patient lives?
If so, we have a unique opportunity within our dynamic Data Science team as Visualisation Intern, where you will have the chance to immerse yourself in groundbreaking research and contribute to impactful projects.
ABOUT YOU
You will be looking for a year in industry placement as part of your studies, as part of a 4 year or 5 year programme (“sandwich degree”) within a STEM subject. Your skills, knowledge and experience will include:
- A keen interest in and willingness to learn about Medical Image Analysis, Medical Physics, and Machine Learning in the context of visualisation (e.g. NeRFs, Latent Diffusion Models).
- Experience in one or more of CAD, VR/AR, 3D Printing, Blender, Adobe Suite, or other 3D modelling or visualisation software.
- A solid foundation in mathematics, with the ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world problems.
- At least basic experience in prototype coding, particularly in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar.
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a strong desire to take initiative and drive projects forward.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks undertaken.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software systems.
- Well-organised with excellent prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proactive self-starter.
We see our internships as a two-way street. While we are committed to fostering your growth and skills within our corporate environment, we also empower you to take ownership of your projects where you feel comfortable in doing so. To make this work, we simply ask that you are:
- Ready and willing to work from our Oxford office for a minimum of 3 days a week, as proximity is essential for collaboration.
- Have the capacity to work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) without requiring UK work sponsorship.
- Available to work for the entire 12-month internship period (we are flexible on start dates!)
Responsibilities:
As Visualisation Intern you will support presentation of outputs in clear and useful ways which are vital to our interactions with patients, clinicians, scientists, and the wider community. Visual imagery from across our product lines can come in many forms: complex 3D models; 2D images with novel pseudo colour ranges; stylised renderings; internal engineering visualisations; plots of genetic data; health economic geospatial renderings; big data visualisations; or product marketing visualisations.
Overall, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our initiatives at the intersection of technology and healthcare. From developing machine learning algorithms to analysing medical images, your work will directly impact the future of Perspectum’s healthcare delivery.
