Responsibilities:
The Voltaire Foundation is a busy and friendly research department within the Humanities Division, based at 99 Banbury Road, Oxford, specialising in the European 18th Century and digital text editing.
We seek a Research Assistant who will work on updating an existing legacy database and transforming it into a sustainable and functional open access resource as part of the ‘Voltaire Studio’. Working with specialist researchers and the Voltaire Foundation’s digital consultant, the Research Assistant will develop/enhance the data model taking the existing data structure as a starting point, with a view to producing a sophisticated and user-friendly end product. In consultation with the supervisors, the Research Assistant will develop a work plan and implement it. The Research Assistant will also be involved in developing the iconography of Digital Voltaire, in terms of both content and permissions, and will make recommendations and produce a plan.
The role is fixed-term for 12 months.
