Description:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to be a key member of the Northumbria Voluntary Service team and ensure efficient and effective systems are in place to support volunteers and staff onsite.
The successful applicant will recruit volunteers and build relationships with the voluntary sector in the area.
The volunteer service is managed by Bright Charity so there will be opportunity to work with the wider charity team on projects.
Please note there are 2 vacancies, one at The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and one at North Tyneside General Hospital . Early evening and weekend work will be included.
Northumbria Healthcare is an integral part of our local community, and we are fortunate to have a large ‘family’ of volunteers who dedicate their time to our NHS trust.
We have around 350 volunteers who tirelessly and generously give their time to services for patients and visitors. They are greatly valued across the trust, so we are delighted to have become the first trust in the North East to achieve the investing in volunteers (IiV) quality standard
Our volunteers perform a range of important roles, from ‘meeting and greeting’ patients and visitors at our hospital entrances, to going around the wards with the sweet trolley. They also help out with patients on the ward, by helping with activities and talking to patients to aid their recovery by helping them practice and gain confidence.

Oversee the supervision and support of Northumbria Service volunteers onsite.
Oversee the day to day running of the Northumbria Volunteer Service shop in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Responsible for arranging and implementing staff rotas and covering the café for annual leave and holidays.
Ensuring all staff and volunteers are up to date with mandatory training.
Responsible for maximizing profits for Bright Charity.
Promote and organise volunteer and Bright Charity events and projects.
Recruit volunteers in the area.
Promote volunteering to groups/clubs in the area.
Create and deliver reports on volunteer activity.
Attend events to promote volunteering.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality – opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools with a wealth of history available on your doorstep. Sound too good to be true? Well it isn’t, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare, this is the Northumbria Way! Please read ‘applicant guidance notes’ before submitting your application.
Handle regular enquiries and secure a suitable response within deadline. This would include: judging level of urgency, identifying any sensitivities involved and either responding directly or liaising with most appropriate colleague/s to arrange a response as appropriate.
Acts as a point of contact for the volunteering service for the public.
Communicate complex information about charity and volunteering projects and relay any changes regarding the projects where the message is constantly changing.
Maintain good levels of communication and good working relationships with volunteers, estates staff and contractors, members of the public and members of staff.
Arrange appointments with groups in the area to promote volunteering within the NHS.
Carry out interviews and training with volunteers.
