The Volunteer Service Coordinator is responsible for managing the volunteer program and overseeing the internship program. It is important that the incumbent demonstrate strong initiative and exercise good judgment as a result of the outreach and stewardship nature of the role. This dual role involves coordinating volunteer activities, recruiting new volunteers and interns, facilitating their onboarding, and ensuring a positive and impactful experience with Catholic Charities.
The Volunteer Service Coordinator duties will also be providing pertinent information to individuals and groups about the Catholic Charities Volunteer Services program, providing guidance to prospective volunteers and interns about opportunities that contribute to Catholic Charities services, agency staff, and clients, working with volunteer groups and managing Share Your Blessings and other events.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience in volunteer management or related field preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

What you Deliver

  • You will develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract diverse and skilled volunteers and interns. Collaborate with programs to understand volunteer and intern needs and create compelling opportunities.
  • You will oversee the entire recruitment process, from posting positions and reviewing applications to conducting interviews and selecting volunteers/interns. Collaborate with program managers to identify intern needs and ensure a smooth recruitment process. Collaborates with Human Resources regarding background screening requirements.
  • You will conduct orientations for new volunteers and interns, providing them with an understanding of the organization’s mission, values, and policies. Coordinate training sessions to equip volunteers and interns with the necessary skills for their roles.
  • You will maintain volunteer database, Galaxy Digital, keeping accurate records of volunteers and interns, including contact information, skills, and hours worked. Regularly communicate with volunteers and interns to ensure engagement, address concerns, and provide ongoing support.
  • You will develop and implement internship program policies, guidelines, and procedures. Supervise interns, providing guidance, support, and regular feedback throughout their internship.
  • You will provide support to Share Your Blessings Christmas drive by working with assigned agency programs, community members, and an external advisory team to provide gifts to agency clients and community members in need. Assist the manager in supporting departments and a wide variety of community groups to promote and cultivate interest in the volunteer and internship programs and department-wide objectives.
  • You will organize and manage volunteer-related events, such as appreciation gatherings, workshops, and recognition ceremonies. Coordinate logistics for volunteer and intern involvement in organizational events and projects.
  • You will develop and implement a communication plan to keep volunteers and interns informed about organizational updates, events, and opportunities. Collaborate with the marketing or communications team to highlight volunteer and intern contributions through various channels.
  • You will develop and implement a recognition program to acknowledge and appreciate volunteers and interns for their dedication and contributions. Regularly celebrate milestones and achievements of individual volunteers, interns, and the volunteer team as a whole.
  • You will work collaboratively with other departments to identify volunteer and intern needs and integrate them into various organizational activities. Foster positive relationships with volunteers, interns, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • You will maintain accurate records of volunteer and intern activities, hours served, and impact achieved. Prepare regular reports for leadership, highlighting the value and impact of volunteer and intern contributions.
  • You will travel to volunteer events and for outreach purposes. Support other tasks and/or events hosted by the agency.
  • You will do other administrative and management duties as assigned.
