Our client, a premier global bank based in Singapore is looking for a VP – Business Auditor with expertise in Investment Banking/ Operations Audit Functions. The Internal Audit department is a key part of the the bank’s corporate governance structure – the “third line of defence” – and the department’s overarching objective is to provide independent assurance to senior management and the relevant audit committees as to the robustness of the company’s control environment, and to identify and report any weaknesses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform risk assessments of the bank’s Operations business, and assist in developing the annual audit plan.
  • Remain current on any changes to the bank’s risk profile through continuous monitoring the assigned area of responsibility and establishing close contact with key risk stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute data analytics to identify internal control weaknesses during internal audit reviews and continuous auditing.
  • Identify emerging risks and control gaps, draft and promptly report audit findings to line management, and suggest practical and innovative solutions.
  • up audit recommendations post-audit, assess residual risk, validate remedial work performed and close issues.
  • Perform and document aspects of Internal Audit’s quarterly continuous monitoring programme, in order to identify changes to risk assessments, audit plan or audit universe.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the financial services industry, and assess their impact on the organisation’s risk profile and internal audit function.
  • Identify emerging investment banking operation risks and control themes related to be included in management and Audit Committee presentations.
  • Learn, understand and apply the department’s audit methodology.
  • Work closely with Internal Audit teams in other locations.

To be eligible for this role you will require:

  • Strong audit skills and good knowledge or relevant audit background in Operations business within Investment Banking or Financial Services.
  • 7 years of audit experience in the financial services sector is desired, preferably within investment banking.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and pro-actively, multi-task, and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and commitment to delivery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, and have the confidence to deliver tough messages and have difficult conversations.
  • Hands-on experience working with data would be an advantage. Data analytics skill and experience in data analytical and mining tools and languages (such as SQL Server, Graph, Python, R) and visualisation technologies (such as Qlikview/Qlik Sene or Tableau) is preferred.
  • An accounting or quantitative background, a relevant professional qualification and experience within the internal audit function of a global investment bank and/or large accounting firm.
  • Some international experience is strongly preferred.
