Description:

Reporting to the SVP Technology and CIO, the VP IT Strategy, Portfolio Management and Governance is a highly visible and multi- faceted role that:

  • Leads the refinement and execution of the of the IT strategy, including the implementation of a refreshed operating model that enables an exciting new vision with significant upgrades to technology, re-engineering of key processes, and establishing new capabilities within IT
  • Leads the implementation, as a subject matter expert, of critical IT or business projects that are high complexity, high impact, and/or have a significant technology component.
  • Supports the CIO in ensuring successful execution of IT’s overall mandate, including governance of the IT budget, accountability for IT skills development to enable the refreshed operating model, development and delivery of executive and board communications, and governance of the overall IT portfolio comprised of all IT activities across the organization

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Strategy & Operating Model Implementation:
  • Lead the implementation of all facets (technology upgrades, digital transformation, process re-engineering and capability build) of the refreshed IT Operating Model ensuring all objectives are met using people-centric leadership, disciplined delivery and effective change management.
  • Drive alignment on IT strategic direction in concert with IT and IO leadership; review and revise existing strategic plans and ensure that all initiatives are aligned to IT and business strategy.
  • Partner with business leaders and provide advice on new technology developments to enable robust and efficient divisional strategies.
  • Acts as the primary communication channel to LoB leads, engaging directly with their designated business counterpart for technology-enabled change and delivery.
  • Earn the position of trusted advisor and help facilitate trade-off / prioritization decisions with various executive level stakeholders providing rigorous strategic insights to enable informed decision making.
  • Ensure all IT roadmaps (e.g. cyber, data, architecture, applications, etc.) and plans are up to date.

Strategic Project Leadership & Integrated IT Portfolio Governance :

  • As project lead or IT executive sponsor as assigned by the CIO, ensure high impact, high complexity initiatives are delivered on time, on budget, with effective governance and stakeholder engagement.
  • In partnerships with IT leadership, govern the integrated IT portfolio, comprised of IT operations, cyber security, data management, IT procurements, service delivery and project portfolio (operational projects, improvement projects & strategic projects)
  • Develop, manage, and update the integrated IT budget, communications, training, and staff capability development
  • Lead the implementation, operationalization, and governance of standard scorecards across the IT portfolio ensuring focus on the right metrics/KPIs that measure performance within and across the various functions of IT
  • Develop and disseminate clear, concise reporting on all portfolio activities, progress to milestones and roadmap for CIO, Transformation Office, EMT and IO’s Board
  • Work closely with Finance to establish and maintain a benefits framework to inform the CIO and executives on both spend and benefit forecasts and actuals; track return-on-investment for all initiatives to drive overall roadmap and prioritization decisions.
  • Working in partnership with IT leadership, identify areas of improvement including standardizing vendor performance metrics while regularly identifying opportunities for optimizing performance, capability, and costs.
