You are looking for a career in Retail Marketing and:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a preference for Marketing, Commerce, or Business Administration.
  • 8 years of relevant progressively marketing experience, with prior leadership experience.
  • Previous experience with search engine optimization, digital adverting methods and other web-focused initiatives is considered an asset.
  • Co-operative retail experience is preferred.
  • Interpersonally savvy with a passion for collaboration, driving community engagement, and social responsibility.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and offer new ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for storytelling and building authentic connections to inspire others.
  • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, leveraging insights to drive strategic marketing decisions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in internet marketing techniques, tools, and solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment and adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Technical and creative writing skills, for business plans, and AGM/Board Reports as required.
  • Promotes innovation, manages change, and is committed to improving the customer experience.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will oversee the marketing function and team for Discovery Co-operative Ltd. Your duties will include:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in all marketing related activities and is responsible for developing marketing strategies to promote Discovery Co-op’s image and brand.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the Marketing Team including the recruitment, performance management, training and development for all Team Members.
  • Works collaborative with the CEO and the Senior Leadership team in the development of organizational strategies, implement marketing programs, and initiatives throughout the organization aimed at increasing sales and membership.
  • Creates exciting new possibilities through collaboration with all business functions and organization leaders to consistently deliver exceptional end-to-end customer experiences across all stages, channels, and touchpoints in the customer journey.
  • Leads the efforts to ensure brand, merchandising, image, and marketing standards are consistently followed throughout the organization in alignment with the brand.
  • Creates and delivers training for employees/team leaders to promote awareness of brand and sharing stories to align brand with our mission, vision, values, and 4 Key Basics to Legendary Guest Service.
  • Develops and executes community relations strategies to strengthen the brand while actively seeking to improve the local community in our trading area.
  • Provide recommendations to the CEO on innovative ideas for articles, press releases, and events.
  • Engages with various internal and external stakeholders to lead various community sponsorship opportunities, donations, events, and core marketing programs (e.g. Kids Club, Fuel Good Day, Co-op Week, etc.).
  • Serves as a representative and liaison of Discovery Co-operative Ltd. by attending community events/functions.
  • Leads the Discovery Co-operative Ltd. sustainability efforts through administration, modification, and implementation of sustainability goals, and plans.
  • Serves as the Sustainability Committee Leader to ensure forward thinking strategies and objectives are completed and communicated internally and externally across the organization.
  • Responsible for providing recommendations to the CEO
