At KCS the VP of PMO leads the Program Management Office (PMO) with an expansive vision that covers both project and program management, driving excellence in delivery across our software business. The role is to enforce project management standards, ensuring each project aligns with strategic objectives, and to manage program portfolios, harmonising related projects to achieve broader business goals.
The VP of PMO improves project and program velocity, streamlining delivery processes to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality. The role provides critical oversight on resource allocation, guiding the Director of Engineering and QA teams to optimise project outcomes and program achievements. Leadership will be vital in cultivating an environment that prioritises swift delivery, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment, making you a cornerstone of our R&D’s success.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • PMO Leadership: Proven expertise in heading PMOs, with an emphasis on overseeing multiple project and programme management disciplines.
  • Velocity Management: Specialised skills in driving project velocity, ensuring that project and programme deliverables are met swiftly without compromising on quality.
  • Strategic & Operational Planning: Capacity to conduct strategic planning with operational excellence for diverse project portfolios.
  • Risk Management & Mitigation: Advanced ability to foresee, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks to maintain project momentum and success.
  • Resource Optimisation & Allocation: Competence in managing and allocating resources effectively to balance workloads and maintain high performance.
  • Process Optimisation: Demonstrated success in enhancing PMO processes to uphold project consistency and quality across the board.
  • Change Leadership: Skilled in leading change within the PMO, to stay in stride with best practices and adaptive business strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Superior stakeholder management abilities to navigate complex organisational structures and influence outcomes.
  • Professional Development & Training: Commitment to the mentoring and development of PMO staff, nurturing a learning environment that values upskilling and knowledge sharing.
  • Agile Practices Advocacy: Strong advocate for agile methodologies, promoting their use to improve project delivery times and adaptability to change.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the PMO, establishing robust project and program management standards and processes to enhance delivery and operational efficiency significantly.
  • Play a pivotal role in driving project velocity, ensuring rapid, efficient, and impactful project execution across the organization.
  • Oversee comprehensive project portfolio management, meticulously aligning projects with strategic business objectives and efficiently managing resources for optimal outcomes.
  • Implement and closely monitor performance metrics and KPIs, utilizing these insights to assess project and program success rigorously.
  • Engage in strategic collaboration with the Director of Engineering and QA teams to optimise resource allocation, addressing and streamlining project delivery processes.
  • Foster a culture of stringent accountability, holding VPs, directors, and teams to high standards and ensuring project and program milestones are met with uncompromising quality.
  • Provide indispensable strategic advice on project and program management, playing a crucial role in the seamless operation and success of the R&D team.
  • Act as the cornerstone for project governance, ensuring alignment with company goals while navigating and mitigating project risks and challenges.
