Job Description

This position is accountable for timely and cost-effective fabrication, assembly and test of high-quality precision instruments and complex systems for Elbit Systems of America sites. This position is also responsible for sound inputs to New Business Planning, which includes bid/no bid recommendations, proposal preparations, cost estimating, make/buy analysis and factory capacity planning. The foregoing objectives are accomplished through effective management of facilities, material, manufacturing processes, and quality consistent with specifications and established budgets and Company strategy and policies.

  • The primary responsibility of the VP Operations is to direct the diversified multi plant, geographically disbursed, and multi product activities of Manufacturing, and Engineering. In concert with ESA’s Long Range Plan, the incumbent is responsible for planning for changes in product lines and projected future growth of the company through effective utilization of facilities, manpower and capital funding.
  • The incumbent discusses with the COO - ESA, major changes in areas such as:
  • Facility Expansion, Rearrangements, or Consolidation
  • Productivity and Quality
  • Organization and Manpower Requirements
  • Production Cost and Budget Performance
  • As a member of senior management, this position participates in monthly Program Review meetings for each of the product lines, senior staff meetings, Most Wanted Orders Status Reviews, and quarterly Research and Development Status Reviews. In addition, the position is involved in new meetings and is responsible for accurate manufacturing, quality and material cost inputs to proposals.
  • The VP Operations is fully accountable for product quality. They are the senior company executive interfacing directly with customers and the DCASMA on factory performance. The incumbent meets regularly with the resident DCAS Representatives to discuss the overall quality performance and other pertinent subjects. The interface is critical to maintain open channels of communication with the DCAS Organization.
  • A key, to the success of this position, is the ability to effectively manage and motivate a wide range of functions and responsibilities, to continually improve quality and productivity through better planning, tools, processes and high employee morale. At the same time the Operations Department must remain flexible so that new or advanced products, resulting from R & D efforts, contract awards or acquisitions can be transitioned into production in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • The cost effective and timely manufacture of new and existing products through the establishment and implementation of sound policies, procedures, methods, standards, techniques, processes and plans consistent with established Quality requirements, specification and schedules.
  • Provide leadership in the allocation of company resources in order to meet the companies production scheduling, inventory levels, quality and other objectives in a cost effective manner consistent with long range objectives.
  • Improve overall productivity and cost competitiveness by effective make/buy decisions, diligent procurement practices, modern and up to date manufacturing methods and processes, facility utilization and capital equipment acquisition.
  • Manage, maintain and motivate a competent organization capable of fulfilling current and future commitments and requirements.
  • Establish and control Operating budgets including labor, material and expenses by product and by function.
  • Contribute to the achievement of company strategic goals and objectives through effective participation of senior management decision making.
  • Establish viable succession and leadership planning process with flexibility to address changes in business environment and company growth.

Qualifications

  • Extensive and broad executive aerospace and/or military contract operations experience including multi site responsibility.
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in technical or business discipline
  • Desired Master’s of Science in financial operations or business
  • 10+ years minimum directly related experience in executive leadership roles.

Candidate can expect considerable travel to assure sound relationships and environment in facilities
