Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM), a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people.
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently completed (2022) a feasibility study for the deposit and is undertaking advanced exploration and detailed Engineering activities this year. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

Foran Mining has recently completed a positive feasibility study for the McIlvenna Bay project and have started advanced design, permitting and preliminary construction activities to build underground mining and milling facilities as well as the supporting infrastructure.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Projects is a key member of the Foran leadership team. In this role, you are responsible for the safe execution of the McIlvenna Bay Project within costs and time commitments. You are also accountable for the establishment of appropriate processes, tools, standards and governance to ensure consistent and successful delivery of all projects and smooth transition to operations.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Unwavering dedication to protecting health, safety and the environment
  • Degree in Mining, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Applied Sciences or related experience
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in a senior operations or project management role, with diverse experience across different stages of the project life cycle
  • Background in engineering, operations, and/or construction activities
  • Strong project management skills and experience, with a broad understanding of planning, scheduling, progress reporting, contracting terms, and change management
  • Track record of influencing leadership decisions through clear communication and understanding of company-wide priorities
  • Extensive experience with Underground Mine Projects
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong presentation skill

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture of zero harm at the mine site and with personnel, with an uncompromising commitment to health, safety, and the environment
  • Develop and implement project plans and schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Support, engage and manage (where appropriate) relationships with key external stakeholders, and act as a steward of Foran’s values, exemplifying a strong health and safety culture
  • Prepare project reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis with focus on Planned Value and Earned Value,
  • Responsible for capital cost budgeting of development projects, including optimizing design and costs
  • Collaborate with other business unit leaders in obtaining and maintaining environmental and regulatory approval and permits, obtaining project financing, etc.
  • Work closely with the internal Project team to assign resources to execute on project delivery in accordance with the project needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operational Readiness team and Mine General Manager to prepare the project for transition to operations
  • Represent the business needs of the project including coordinating the input of other functions as needed to support the project
  • Approving major project decisions, sign-off on key deliverables, and resolve issues that may arise between stakeholders
  • During the execution phase, being accountable for all external project reporting communications unless otherwise delegated (project partners, financing including reporting obligations, government relations, regulators including reporting obligations, public disclosures, and press releases, etc.)
