Responsibilities:
WHAT IMPACT CAN YOU MAKE IN THIS ROLE?
You will articulate GIC’s strategic outlook, determine asset exposures and benchmarks, implement new return streams and investment models, and optimise the risk-reward of the GIC Portfolio. You will help to characterise the outlook for the global macro investment environment, conduct strategic research, and contribute to the Global Research Network. You will also be given the opportunity to develop medium-term investment strategies for the total portfolio, and help with the management of key top-of-the-house portfolios.
WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A MACRO STRATEGIST?
- Conduct research on global macro thematic issues pertinent for the GIC portfolio
- Provide thought leadership for the firm on topical and emerging global macro trends
- Formulation of key economic views and coverage of policy developments
- Communication of views effectively with stakeholders and working closely with the various investment teams
- Help to manage and refine team’s overall investment framework and develop actionable investment recommendations.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS IN THIS ROLE?
- 10 years and above experience as an economist or strategist with preferably coverage of major EM economies
- Able to formulate independent views and investment recommendations.
- Strong analytical abilities, proficient with MS office products and databases, (e.g. Macrobond, CEIC, Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.)
- Able to link the dots, with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and encourage constructive internal discussions.
