We are looking for a new Vice President, to head our Valve Controllers and Actuators Business Unit, for Valmet’s Flow Control Business Line.

We drive profitable growth and sustainable productivity across our customer industries. Our product offering ranges from industrial control, on-off and safety valves to valve controllers, actuators and limit switches, as well as their spare parts and related services. Annually, Flow Control Business Line delivers around 400 000 valves, 80 000 actuators and positioners similarly.
We are now looking for Vice President, Valve controllers and Actuators business unit to lead the BU team (Product centers, business management and R&D, team of ~50 people). VC&A BU is responsible for developing Valmet’s valve automation business and our product portfolio consists of actuators, controllers and limit switches under Neles, Stonel, Valvcon and Easyflow brands.
In your role as head of VC&A Business Unit, you own the P/L of the business and will be responsible for creating Business Unit’s growth strategies based on Flow Control’s overall business strategy. You will lead the daily global business to deliver business targets that focus on profitable and sustainable growth. As head of the Business Unit, you’ll be orchestrating end-to-end Valmet team in serving our valve automation customers by having strong people management and communication skills.
You have the foresight to plan for tomorrow, as well as the ability to focus the organization on executing today. The success in this position is measured by the business’ profitable growth, by our relative position in the markets and by the Business Unit head’s capability to drive results through inspiring people. In this role, you report to Flow Control Business Line President and have a seat in Business line’s management team where you play an active role in participating and influencing on key decisions impacting the whole Flow Control business line.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Implementation of Valmet Flow Control’s global strategy and the defining and implementation of the business strategy for VC&A business unit. Main KPIs are related with growth and profitability improvement
  • Daily management of the business. Review of global performance of everything impacting VC&A P&L
  • Ensuring effective processes for VC&A business and good support for sales and customers
  • Ensuring industry leading product portfolio and effective R&D implementation with constant new product launches
  • Ensuring impactful commercial launches of the new products
  • Building, leading and developing the Business unit’s organization and the teams
  • Responsible for health and safety of business unit organization
  • Participates to Flow Control global management team and contributes to leading and developing the whole Flow Control business line

Our key requirements for the role are:

  • Technical (M.Sc. or B.Sc.) degree in related field and ~10 years’ experience in technology and manufacturing environment
  • Capabilities and track record to lead cross functional business strategy and strategy implementation focusing on long term growth and increased profitability
  • Understanding of the business dynamics of our customer base
  • Experience of distributor sales and OEM customers
  • Experience on innovation and new product development, including commercial launches of new products, understanding of all aspects of good product
  • Experience of mass-produced products, knowledge of digital technologies and opportunities of new technologies
  • Strong customer-orientation to drive the business forward and skills to liaise with other Valmet organizations and customers to understand current and future product needs and market development
  • Competencies to develop VC&A business processes and ways of working to improve customer service and internal efficiency
  • Ability to coach and develop organizations and people for improved performance
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to Flow Control Business Line strategy and operational development as part of the Flow Control Management Team
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral. You should also have presentation, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel on an international basis

Preferred locations: Hakkila (Finland), Shrewsbury (USA) and India are being prioritized, candidates from other Flow Control Business Line’s main locations can be considered.
