Description:

Assist with the effective and efficient running of the unit by providing clerical support
Assist with the effective and efficient running of the unit by providing administrative support when administrator is away.

Take responsibility for attending and participating in all mandatory and essential training to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the Trust and/or safety and wellbeing of other staff and the patients for whom you provide services.
Participate in the supervision and appraisal process as a minimum.
Come and join the Home1st inpatient intermediate care team at Windsor Intermediate Care Unit, 19-bedded unit in Bletchley.

Our purpose is to provide an enhanced Intermediate Care, rehabilitation and sub-acute service predominately for the older person. Preventing acute hospital admissions and facilitating early discharge are our primary goals.

  • Ensure all medical records, patients records and associated documents are maintained in good order, and appropriately stored
  • Liaise with medical secretaries, other departments and other professionals when required
  • Ensure all relevant records are available upon request by the multi disciplinary team
  • To request transport for patient’s appointments, transfers and discharges using SCAS or wheelchair taxi, under the direction of Nurse in Charge or nursing staff
  • To prepare and co ordinate the safe transportation of patient specimens and other equipment or items as directed by the unit coordinator, administrator or unit manager
  • Ensure the bed state and Daily Handover sheet remains up to date during the working day
  • Assist with the ordering, deliveries and organisation of stores.
  • Be responsible for ordering, maintaining and organising of stationary stored for the unit
  • Deliver patients and staff mail. Forwarding onto discharged patients
  • Answer the telephone, transferring calls, taking/sending/delivering messages in a helpful and professional manner
  • Check ward and communication diary daily and discuss/ prioritize workload
  • Carry out other administrative and clerical duties as required ensuring the efficient running of the unit.
  • Assist and support the healthcare team with medical emergencies
  • Welcome and receive new admissions and ensure nursing staff are aware of their arrival.
  • Welcome and receive all visitors to the unit in a friendly and helpful manner, ensure they sign the visitor’s book and assist them with who they need to visit.
  • Assist the senior staff and unit manager in ensuring the unit is fully staffed with the appropriate skill mix, to include phoning of the unit staff, Bank staff and agency staff
  • In the absence of the administrator, assist in the duties that are essential to the efficient running of the unit
  • Assist with the identification, recording and reporting of faulty equipment
  • Maintain a tidy and safe working environment
  • Ensure to keep ones self up to date with unit procedures, guidelines and Mandatory Training
  • Carry out manual record when SystmOne is down
  • Maintain effective communication networks within the CNWL ensuring confidentiality at all times
  • Participate in the induction of new staff where appropriate
  • Represent the unit at relevant and appropriate meetings and feedback as necessary
