REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Secondary school diploma
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • Computer knowledge.
  • Previous experience in a health care setting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, telephone communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively with all staff members.

Responsibilities:

As a Ward Clerk at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare you will;

  • Answer phones calls
  • Book ambulatory care/outpatient appointments
  • Organize charts for admissions and discharge,
  • Ability to differentiate between content requirements for operative procedures, medical charts, CCU charts, long-term care charts, and other speciality charts.
  • Book tests, appointments, and consultations with other facilities and make all necessary arrangements for patient to attend appointment.
  • Access and arrange patient transfers between facilities using PTAC (Provincial Transfer Authorization Center)
