Description:

  • Salary: $60,229 - $67,695 p.a. plus 11.5% Super
  • Permanent/Full-Time
  • Adverse Working Condition Allowance – Level 2

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Certificate 2 in Waste Management, Civil Construction, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working in waste management or a civil engineering environment.
  • Hold a current HR Drivers licence or be willing and able to obtain as soon as practicable.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a current SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Card (i.e., White Card)
  • Experience in the operation of stationery, mobile, and heavy plant
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to WHS principles and practices
  • Ability and willingness to undertake physical manual work
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent, full-time position working 38 hours per week.
A monthly roster will be implemented to support the business requirements, which operates seven days a week. Candidates selected for this role will be responsible for working shifts which may include weekends and public holidays as required.
You will work between West Nowra, Huskisson, and Ulladulla depending on operational needs. You will also be required to work at the 7 other sites including Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Callala, Sussex Inlet, Bendalong, Lake Conjola, and Kioloa as required.

DUTIES

Reporting directly to the Waste Depot Supervisor, the focus of this position is to:

  • Operate heavy plant and vehicles at tipping faces, transfer areas or customer locations.
  • Compact, excavate, load, sort, recover resources, transport, apply alternate and daily cover, suppress dust on internal unsealed roads and tipping area, inspect loads of separated concrete for hazardous materials (accept or reject) and load mulch for customers.
  • Work in co-operation and collaboratively with all team members to achieve Council’s waste operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Open and close entrance gate at public opening and closing times.
  • Participate in morning and afternoon briefs, identifying any safety related issues or operational improvements that can be implemented.
  • Conduct thorough site and area of operation inspections to identify and action any safety or operational issues prior to opening and closing sites to the public.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational checks and maintenance on plant and trucks (oil/water/tyre/grease/fuel/clean tracks etc.)

On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
