Industrial Wastewater Engineer located at General Motors CAMI- Ingersol Canada

Our industry knowledge, engineering expertise and hands-on experience make MPS the preferred service supplier in dozens of automotive assembly plants for vital systems such as: Wastewater Treatment, Paint Spray Booth Systems, VOC Abatement Systems, Boiler, Chiller and Humidification Systems to name a few. We are currently seeking a Support Engineer for the GM Cami, Industrial Wastewater Treatment Facility, located in Ingersoll, Ontario. The position is full-time on-site and requires the individual to support the Environmental and Facilities Departments in multiple capacities, with the primary responsibility of wastewater treatment optimization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Three years of experience in water/wastewater industry preferred.
- Engineering or technology degree/diploma in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Resources, or related discipline.
- Well versed in water treatment chemistries and applications.
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to work in environments and challenging situations with a variety of different stakeholders and personnel.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, equipment specifications, analytical results, governmental regulations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor effectiveness and efficiency of the industrial wastewater treatment process within a GM automotive assembly plant in Southwestern Ontario.
- Monitor treatment data and analytical results to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and discharge agreements.
- Monitor process equipment and lab instrumentation - troubleshoot deficiencies and help coordinate the necessary repairs and/or upgrades.
- Help develop, hone, and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Audit operator performance to ensure training is sufficient.
- Complete safety audits and document findings – champion resolutions.
- Integrate with GM’s Environmental and Facilities departments to complete tasks and assignments as directed by same.
- Optimize chemical usage while reporting on cost and consumption trends.
- Initiate and implement process cost savings programs including chemical conversions.
- Generate all internal and external reporting requirements.
