Description:

We have a great opportunity for a Data Analysist to join our Network Monitoring team.
The team is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and analysis of sewerage assets across our region.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
A good understanding of sewerage networks and/or telemetry systems would also be beneficial.

Additionally, we are looking for:

  • data science skills
  • an analytical approach to problem identification and resolution
  • experience in or an understanding of the water industry
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • excellent IT and/or computer science skills
  • someone who is self-motivated with the ability to prioritise/organise work
  • a degree or HNC/HND in an engineering or a science-based subject is desirable.

WHO WE ARE

We are one of the top-performing water and sewerage companies in England and Wales, serving 2.9 million people across the South West.
The work we do goes beyond providing an essential public service. We also aim to have a positive impact on the communities we serve and the natural environment.
Our people tell us Wessex Water is a great place to work, which is why so many of them stay with us! You will have the opportunity to develop and progress your career, while also receiving health and wellbeing support.
We also continue to promote diversity and inclusion – with that in mind, all applicants are welcome. We are delighted to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and are a Disability Confident Employer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us and if you would like to be part of our journey, we would love to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to let us know about any additional support you may need.

Responsibilities:

Your role will focus on the proactive monitoring, analysis and interpretation of issues on the wastewater network.
You will need to identify emerging problems and trends, proposing actions/solutions before impacts to customers or the environment are seen.
As an industry-leading company, we are committed to continuously improving our performance and moving towards a more efficient data-led culture.
We are in the process of installing thousands of sewer-level monitors across our sewerage network. The data from these monitors will be used to help reduce pollution risks, such as blockages, and improve our understanding of the network.

Responsibilities include:

  • analysing trends to recognise problems in the network (eg, sewer levels, flow, pressure and digital signals)
  • reviewing alerts and analytical/machine learning tools such as Stormharvester
  • understanding what the ‘abnormal’ operation of assets may look like
  • identifying solutions/actions to developing issues on the network
  • informing monitor maintenance (eg, sewer level monitors)
  • helping to hone and develop data analysis processes
  • liaison/engagement with multiple cross-functional teams
  • identifying poor-quality data
  • providing regular and ad-hoc updates to a wide audience
  • weekend cover will be required (typically once per month).
