POSITION OVERVIEW

The District of North Vancouver has 2 temporary full-time position available for a Water Conservation Officer 1) from May 13, 2024 to October 23, 2024 and 2) from June 3, 2024 to August 30, 2024 with the Utilities department. The positions involve public contact and routine manual work carried out in support of the District’s water conservation program. Work duties include patrolling the District by vehicle or on foot to monitor for indications of illegal watering. The successful incumbents will investigate complaints, educate residents with regard to watering restrictions, issue warnings, complete inspections, coordinate with a partner Water Conservation Officer, and liaise with municipal staff. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable independent judgement and action exercised within established guidelines.
The successful applicants will have exceptional customer service and dispute resolution skills with the ability to deal with members of the public effectively while providing information and education on watering use and restrictions. Your ability to accurately complete work related documentation is accompanied by your ability to monitor and identify situations of non-compliance with watering restrictions and ability to follow-up on repeat violations. Further, you are proficient with MS Office applications, Word and Excel and are able to prepare internal records and detailed reports and perform research.
Requirements for this position include completion of Grade 12 and some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License is also required.
