QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or other relevant discipline
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Understanding of catchment hydrology, river hydraulics, flood modelling, and use of modelling tools/software (TUFLOW and RORB) and supporting spatial GIS tools/software
- Excellent report writing skills including experience using Microsoft Office (or equivalent)
- Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Effective time and project management skills
- Western Australian Driver’s Licence
- Understanding of approvals relating to surface water management in mining in WA
- Experience in the development and execution of surface water monitoring programs and undertaking in-field catchment investigations
- Civil drainage design understanding and experience in Civil Design software
- Understanding of water infrastructure systems, pipes and pump design
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support, in a planning capacity, to project delivery, operations and mine planning in relation to surface water and water systems infrastructure at our operational sites
- Raise awareness of flood risk and surface water management to all stakeholders, and facilitate annual wet season preparedness activities
- Undertake technical analysis to support the investigation, approval and development of new mining studies. This includes hydrology and waterways hydraulic modelling for flood impact assessment, flood risk review for bulk earthworks and mine infrastructure development
- Provide water systems and surface water inputs to multidisciplinary stakeholders to achieve key objectives across various stages of project development including scoping study, prefeasibility study, feasibility study, detail design, construction and operation
- Work within multidisciplinary teams to scope project approval requirements and deliver surface water technical inputs in support of these
- Prepare materials for use in stakeholder consultation activities
- Attend site when required to execute surface water investigations, monitoring programs and participate in other site-based activities such as stakeholder consultation
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with all aspects of water engineering management and contribute to knowledge building and awareness
