REQUIREMENTS

  • Class G driver’s license
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience driving
  • Computer and smart phone literate
  • Proven ability to work safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must be able to work independently

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, the application of safe practices, and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
  • Ensure that all safety equipment, including personal protective equipment, is accessible and in good working condition
  • Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and the load, ensuring safety and road worthiness
  • Comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, occupational health and safety, the transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
  • Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Perform basic maintenance as required
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable federal regulations
  • Record and maintain required documentation, including driver logbook, bills of lading, etc. by manual or electronic means
  • Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers, both verbally and in writing
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks
  • Understand procedures and be prepared for any spills
  • Provide feedback to Operations Manager regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
  • Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. This may include daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
  • Train others when required
  • Other related duties as assigned
