The work of the team is dynamic and high-profile. You will need to be results focussed, provide leadership and support to others, and demonstrate positivity and resilience to achieve objectives. This includes working with the team to design and build new and leading-edge tools for accessing and displaying the Library’s largest digital collection and provide support for existing ones

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Significant experience with Java and Python programming.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and experience with web technologies (HTTP, HTML, JavaScript).
  • Qualifications or equivalent extensive experience in information technology or related field.
  • Proven ability to collaborate on open-source projects.
  • Understanding and experience with web crawlers and web archiving standards (WARC).

THE ROLE

The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Senior Developer, Web Archive Systems (EL 1) role in the Strategy & Product Development Section of the Digital Branch.
In this role you will work with a small and highly experienced team that builds world class digital collections for the Library. The role involves working with the team to develop new tools and enhance existing ones to maintain the teams place as a world leader in their field.
You will be able provide sound advice and recommendations which influence the decisions made by others as well as making decisions using in depth knowledge and professional judgment. You will also be able engage with an international community of like-minded developers in the field of web archiving and digital preservation.

To succeed in this role you will have:
