Job Duties

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (QSA)

  1. Diploma in Interactive Design and Technology, with the technology specialty; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. One year of print and online publishing experience.
  3. Advanced skill in creating HTML5 documents using: Integrated Development Environment (such as Dreamweaver), text editor, and learning management systems (LMS).
  4. Advanced skills in creating print ready documents, manuals, complex math equations and forms using MS Word and Adobe acrobat.
  5. Strong skills to create print-based customized templates.
  6. Advanced skill in proofreading, punctuation, grammar, and APA formatting.
  7. Fundamental knowledge of CSS and JavaScript.
  8. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently.
  9. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and skilled decision-making required to identify and mitigate risks.
  10. Ability to produce high quality and high volume output in a deadline-driven environment.
  11. Advanced knowledge of communication tools including but not limited to instant messaging, Zoom, and conference calling.
  12. Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Responsibilities:

JOB DUTIES

Reporting to the Web Publishing Supervisor, the successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team. The primary responsibility for the position is to create and revise print-based course materials from material provided by the writer. This is accomplished by using MS Office Word 2010 and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Knowledge of copyright compliance procedures are important.

DUTIES:

  1. Edit print-based course materials: accurately incorporate course manual contents into the curriculum format template; insert graphics into documents ensuring accurate referencing; ensure formatting is consistent and accurate based on Saskatchewan Polytechnic curriculum format with program specific requirements. Edit punctuation, spelling and apply APA format to references. Proofread entire document, ensuring text and graphics are accurate, and that copyright information is included.
  2. Maintain and/or develop complex, automated software templates customized for use in the publishing department.
  3. Research technical solutions for complex troubleshooting of software.
  4. Apply complex, analytical processes to research and provide solutions to software/hardware problems; e.g., PDF files, printer/font incompatibility.
  5. Self-train on new software; keep up to date on technological advances.
  6. Electronically file course manuals: ensure consistency and accuracy in file naming and availability of backup files on network; ensure duplication and overriding does not occur.
  7. Maintain accurate records for work in progress and work completed using the project tracking system.
