Company Description
Join the world of the future in a fast-growing international company! At SEGULA Technologies you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and help shaping the future within an engineering company which is at the heart of innovation. Our expertise covers automotive, bus, truck, agricultural and industrial vehicles. We are working on the technological breakthroughs that will facilitate the mobility of tomorrow.
Job Description
As a Welding Engineer specializing in robot programming, you will play a pivotal role in the automotive manufacturing process, particularly in the assembly of vehicle structures. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and maintain robotic welding programs to ensure the quality, efficiency, and safety of the welding processes used in the fabrication of automotive bodies.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in robotic welding programming, preferably in the automotive industry or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in robot programming languages, such as ABB RobotStudio, Fanuc Roboguide, or KUKA KRL.
  • In-depth knowledge of robotic welding processes, including MIG/MAG, TIG, spot welding, and seam welding.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06) and risk assessment methodologies for robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with robotic simulation software and offline programming techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot robotic welding-related issues and optimize programming parameters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications in robotics or automation are a plus.
  • Experience working in Stellantis/PSA

Responsibilities:

Robot Welding Program Development:

  • Design, develop, and optimize robot welding programs for Body in White (BIW) assembly.
  • Utilize robotic simulation software (e.g., RoboDK, RobotStudio) to validate and optimize welding paths, cycle times, and torch orientations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize component designs for robotic welding feasibility and efficiency.

Robotic Welding System Integration:

  • Specify and integrate robotic welding systems, including robots, welding power sources, sensors, and peripheral equipment, into the manufacturing process.
  • Program and configure robot controllers and welding power sources to ensure seamless integration and synchronization of welding operations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and trials for new robotic welding technologies and applications.

Welding Process Optimization:

  • Continuously improve robotic welding processes through data analysis, experimentation, and the implementation of advanced programming techniques.
  • Optimize welding parameters, such as wire feed speed, travel speed, and arc voltage, to achieve desired weld quality and productivity targets.
  • Implement advanced welding strategies, such as adaptive welding and seam tracking, to enhance weld consistency and accuracy.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure robotic welded components meet dimensional and metallurgical specifications.
  • Conduct weld inspections and testing, such as visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing, to verify weld quality and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ISO) and automotive OEM specifications for robotic welding processes.

Safety and Risk Management:

  • Develop and enforce safety protocols for robotic welding activities, including risk assessments, safety interlocks, and protective barriers.
  • Collaborate with safety engineers to ensure robotic welding systems comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct safety training for operators and maintenance personnel on robotic welding equipment and procedures
