JOB SUMMARY

As a key member of the BC Management Team, the Controller position is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring that the Accounting and Finance team provides the services necessary to support the operational and financial success of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be an articulated and motivated seasoned professional, filled with passion and commitment to help us grow and succeed for the future. The Controller is an expert at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels – both internally and externally and your career demonstrates entrepreneurial achievements.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for Emterra Group and coordinate external year-end review;
  • Manage multi-location financial reporting, including standardization of reporting and review processes;
  • Manage Accounting Services (payroll, AP, AR and general accounting) and organize department assignment;
  • Analyze and interpret accounting and operational data to forecast profitability and performance against budget;
  • Coach, train and evaluate performance of direct reports;
  • Identify new opportunities that drive financial success;
  • Ensure the timely preparation of month-end financial statements;
  • Lead month-end close for all divisions and maintain various schedules such as fixed assets, amortization schedules, month-end adjusting entries;
  • Assist in reconciliations as required for audited financial statements;
  • Provide commentary on monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and insight on individual operations across the region;
  • Initiate and implement process improvement and accounting control measures;
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination and submission of annual budget preparation; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
