Description:
ABOUT THE RSPCA QLD WILDLIFE HOSPITAL
RSPCA Queensland is a non-government, community-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of domestic, farmed, and native animals in Queensland. Our mission statement is simple but powerful: Together We Change Lives.
RSPCA Queensland has the largest and busiest Wildlife Hospital in the state, providing care to over 24,000 native animals every year. There are many factors that impact our native animals: natural disasters such as bushfire and droughts, dog attacks, road accidents, disease and habitat loss.
Responsibilities:
Join our team at RSPCA Queensland, where we operate seven days a week. We are seeking a versatile candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Wildlife patients are admitted to the hospital via members of the public, RSPCA animal ambulances and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation groups. Wildlife cases in care with rehabilitators are also seen on an outpatient basis.
- Provide high quality veterinary care (both medical and surgical) to all animals presented to the clinic.
- Ensure high quality medical records are maintained for all patients.
- Ensure a high standard of communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in supervising Veterinary students.
- Assist in training Animal Rescue Officers and Veterinary Nurses and assist in overseeing their S4 drug use in accord with the organisational accreditation program.
- Help to ensure good welfare outcomes are achieved for each and every patient.
- Ensure the values of the RSPCA QLD are upheld amongst wildlife veterinarians, veterinary nurses and wildlife assistants.
- Participate in approved research projects as directed by the Wildlife Veterinary Director.
- Regularly attend wildlife veterinary team and general staff meetings.
