As a Wind Engineer specialising in both Onshore and Offshore Wind, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and optimisation of wind energy projects. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, they will apply their technical expertise to ensure the successful development and operation of wind farms, while adhering to industry standards and best practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in wind energy engineering, with specific expertise in both onshore and offshore wind projects.
  • Strong knowledge of wind turbine technology, including turbine design, performance analysis, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools for wind resource assessment, turbine layout optimisation, and structural analysis (e.g., WindPRO, WAsP, ANSYS).
  • Experience with regulatory permitting processes and environmental impact assessments for wind energy projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to complex technical challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as needed (domestic and international).

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts site assessments and feasibility studies for potential wind farm locations, considering factors such as wind resource assessment, environmental impact, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with project development teams to optimise wind farm layout and turbine placement, maximising energy production and minimising environmental impact.
  • Performs wind turbine selection and sizing, considering site-specific conditions, project objectives, and technology advancements.
  • Conducts detailed engineering analyses, including load calculations, structural design, and foundation design, to ensure the safe and reliable operation of wind turbines.
  • Develops and reviews technical specifications, design drawings, and construction plans, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Provides technical support during the procurement and construction phases of wind energy projects, including supplier selection, equipment testing, and quality assurance.
  • Conducts performance assessments and operational optimisation studies for existing wind farms, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Monitors and analyses wind turbine performance data, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential issues requiring corrective action.
  • Collaborates with maintenance teams to develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies, maximising turbine uptime and reliability.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments related to wind energy, providing recommendations for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Participates in project meetings, workshops, and technical reviews, communicating complex engineering concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Supports business development efforts by providing technical expertise and analysis for potential wind energy projects, including feasibility assessments and proposal development.
  • Mentors junior engineers and provides technical guidance and training as needed, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the organisation.
  • Adheres to strict safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout all project phases.
