About the role

  • The Lactation Consultant will provide breastfeeding support and knowledge to Maternity/Neonatal Services, Hospital in the Home, Paediatrics Unit and the Emergency Department.
  • Provide exceptional care to Women via inpatient reviews and outpatient appointments.
  • The successful applicant will be part of an experienced team that are responsible for teaching structured in services and study days for staff within the hospital.

About you

  • Certification as an International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Relevant clinical experience in midwifery, neonatal and lactation consultancy
  • Recent experience with the unique feeding needs and capabilities of the sick or pre term infant
  • Demonstrated clinical and interpersonal skills and able to work as part of an enthusiastic team

The successful applicant will be part of an experienced team that are responsible for teaching structured in services and study days for staff within the hospital, as well as demonstrating:

  • A knowledge of current local and national issues within maternity services, in particular in relation to human lactation,commitment to ongoing education and development of midwives and students,
  • A commitment to foster and promote a woman-centred/client focused approach to care, demonstrates ability to work in an autonomous role,
  • Ability to work in an autonomous role,
  • A practical common sense approach to problem solving and trouble shooting.
