Embracing Service, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, Pursuing Excellence, and Advancing EquityUnder the supervision of the Administrative Lead the Administrative Specialist II will meet, interview, and direct public health clients in accordance to the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program under the agency’s policies and procedures.
Clinical and Administrative/Training:
Conduct eligibility interviews, review program requirements, apply processing standards, and educate clients on program standards.
Follow established guidelines around customer service, and cultural competency to answer telephone calls to assist and schedule appointments as needed for current and new clients.
Prepare and submit any required reports to complete data collection and entry into SC WIC;
ensure necessary materials are properly utilized.
Validate and issue food instruments (FI) and Farmer’s Market checks.
Attend relevant program and agency training and meetings.
Employees are to stand for periods of time, and lift periodically up to thirty (30) pounds.

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING MUST BE RECOGNIZED BY THE COUNCIL FOR HIGHER EDUCATION ACCREDITATION.

AGENCY ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of medical office and clinical clerical office experience which includes public contact or an Associates’ Degree in Secretarial Science or a related field and one (1) year of medical office and clinical clerical office experience. Must have advanced computer skills and office equipment knowledge.
This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The work performed supports DHEC’s mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.
DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
