    We are looking for a Work Health and Safety Coordinator to be part of our newly created WHS team and make a difference in promoting a safe and compliant workplace environment.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE WHS COORDINATOR ROLE

The WHS Coordinator is entrusted with implementing the Work Health and Safety Management System. This role involves coordinating regular site inspections, conducting audits, and recommending corrective actions to foster a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with legislations, codes of practice, and industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the WHS Manager and operational leaders to develop, implement, and monitor WHS solutions and improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular site visits to perform audits, inspections, and observations, ensuring adherence to WHS company policies, procedures, legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Escalate medium-high risk matters through established processes, including risk assessments and briefing notes.
  • Lead WHS investigations following the Investigation Guide.
  • Coordinate WHS program initiatives across the business and ensure stakeholders are engaged and supported during the process.
  • Review, update, and monitor Achieve Australia’s WHS policies, procedures, practices and make improvement recommendations.
  • Assist the organisation in developing tools for hazard identification, investigation, and risk management.
  • Research and develop recommendations to address local WHS issues.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of WHS Management Systems, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Support the implementation of processes and systems requiring WHS involvement, such as Emergency Management, Risk Management, and NDIS Practice Standards safety requirements.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Demonstrated experience in Work Health and Safety coordination and management.
  • Strong relationship management, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements related to Health and Safety.
  • Familiarity with the NDIS Practice Standards relevant to Health and Safety.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and WHS databases.
