Reporting to the Manager, Workforce Planning & Development in the General Manager’s Office, the Workforce Associate will assist with the administration, and coordination of divisional workforce planning initiatives, particularly related to staffing, recruitment activities and other Human Resources related functions to meet the division’s current and future business objectives.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e., Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Policy & Administration, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience in Human Resources functions, with a focus on Workforce Planning, and proficiency in project management of HR initiatives, encompassing planning, implementation, and monitoring to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Considerable experience in gathering, researching, and analyzing HR data from various systems and sources, both internally and external, with a particular focus on supporting workforce planning initiatives.
  • Experience using a variety of software products including MS Office Suite, SAP, and Success Factors.
  • Knowledge of employment-related and equity legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Ontario Human Rights Code), and familiarity with emerging equity, diversity and human rights trends.
  • Excellent human relations and conflict management skills with the ability to handle matters of a confidential /sensitive nature as it relates to management and unionized employees.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding work environment with many competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively as a resource to management and staff in a diverse, multi-site division.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with senior administrators, managers, and employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports Workforce Planning Initiatives: Assists in the development and implementation of detailed plans and strategies for workforce planning initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and future business needs.
  • Provides General HR Support: Offers logistical and administrative support for HR projects and initiatives, including coordinating meetings, managing documentation, and facilitating communication between stakeholders.
  • Conducts Data Analysis: Collects, compiles, and analyzes HR data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in workforce planning and HR initiatives.
  • Contributes to Benchmarking: Conducts benchmarking exercises to compare HR practices, policies, and performance metrics against industry standards and best practices, informing decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepares Reports and Presentations: Generates reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates for workforce planning initiatives and HR projects.
  • Engages with External Partners: Collaborates with external organizations, institutions, and government agencies to gather research, collect data, and support the implementation of workforce planning initiatives and HR projects.
  • Drives Communication Strategies: Contributes to the design and development of communication strategies to promote awareness, understanding, and engagement with workforce planning initiatives and HR projects across the organization.
  • Provides HR Information and Support: Retrieves information from various electronic systems and responds to employee inquiries regarding HR matters related to workforce planning initiatives and projects.
  • Supports Training and Development: Assists in the preparation, revision, and maintenance of training documents and programs related to workforce planning and HR initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Performs Other HR Duties: Undertakes additional HR-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of workforce planning and HR initiatives.
