    As part of the wider HR team, this role sits within the Employment Relations (ER) team, you will become the subject matter expert for all things Employment Relations and Industrial Relations.
    Working with a team of highly experienced employment lawyers you will together be a unified team to provide expert advice on a variety of workplace matters, including, but not limited to, collective bargaining, personal grievances, change management, performance management, workplace investigations and disciplinary procedures.
    We are looking for candidates with the potential to identify opportunities to enhance the employment and union relationship, work on initiatives to raise the capability of managers, as well as act as a trusted advisor to the internal HR team, with employment legislative obligations under the Act as well as the Collective Employment Agreements on matters relating to ER procedures, industrial activities and change initiatives.
    Whilst someone with Employment Law experience is preferred, candidates who hold a LLB and have an interest in the ER space will also be considered if you can demonstrate some relevant experience, good learning agility and the right attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Law degree
  • Preferred: 1-5 years of Post Qualification Experience, in an Employment Relations or other similar legal specialisation
  • Advantageous if you have experiences and knowledge in the application of up-to-date New Zealand employment related legislations, in a large, complex, unionised environment
  • Expertise in delivering support to internal stakeholders to aid in their professional development on aspects relating to ER and IR to improve their capability
  • Proven experience to confidently support and provide sound advice on change management, org designs, complex ER/IR issues – working in collaboration with internal and external parties, including navigating through complex workplace disputes and disciplinary processes
  • Ability to pragmatically ensure the Stakeholders comply with company policies and employment legislation, including the identification and mitigation and/or minimisation of risks to the business
  • Ability to build a collaborative relationship with your internal and external partners
