Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Are you an experienced and capable electrical and electronic technician, engineer or someone with comparable experience who would relish supporting cutting edge research and support the development and learning of the scientists of tomorrow? If you are, we would love to hear from you.
We need a Technical Specialist in electrical and electronics to work in our Faculty of Science Electrical and Electronics workshop (based in the School of Physics at the University of Bristol). You will provide essential specialist technical support to researchers and students including troubleshooting problems, advising on design and manufacture, and ensuring a helpful and professional electrical and electronic support service is provided.
This position is well-suited for individuals with experience as a Workshop Development Engineer, Workshop Design Technician, Electronics Laboratory Manager or an Electronics Technical Specialist.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Design, build and use electrical and electronic components, systems, and tools.
  • Provide excellent documentation to support your work and staff who rely on it.
  • Operate, service, maintain, and calibrate specialist equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify complex problems from first principles.
  • Train and support staff and students to undertake activities and tasks in your areas of expertise.
