Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting to Head of Department (Projects) and liaising closely all Workplace Safety, Health and Environment matters to Head of Department (HSE).
  • Responsible for all safety, health and environmental issues at project site.
  • Conduct Safety Induction Training, organize safety & health promotional activities, identifying hazards, advice control measures and guiding WSH Coordinators.
  • Manage a variety of Health, Safety & Environmental activities to ensure that the organization complies with legal and other requirements, regulations, laws and standards as well as internal Integrated Management System.
  • Monitor Health, Safety and Environmental performance and identifying risks or areas for improvement, conducting safety & health audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment practices and working conditions.
  • Guide, advise and lead a team of WSH Coordinators and Supervisors to ensure that the organization’s HSE strategies is implemented effectively and that the company complies with all legal and other requirements, regulations, laws and standards.
  • Initiate investigation into all accidents or incidents or dangerous occurrences and recommend corrective or preventive measures to prevent recurrences.
  • Ensure that the Environmental issues such as drainage, noise monitoring, pollution control and pest control are implemented in accordance to the statutory requirements and advise site staff accordingly.
  • Advocate and inculcate a strong safety culture within the company.
  • Conduct safety pause briefings at sites and keep proper attendance records.
  • Conduct safety inspection to identify unsafe acts and conditions created or practiced by the sub-contractors, recommend/ ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and documented.
  • Carry out accident/ incident investigations and propose corrective actions to be implemented.
  • Review Company and Outsourced Contractors’ Risk Assessments Registers, Safe Work Procedures and other relevant documents.
  • Establish and coordinate Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), drills and the maintenance of emergency response/ fire-fighting equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Min Diploma in Health, Safety and Environmental or Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (Level C).
  • MOM-registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO).
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience as a WSHO.
  • Familiar with local regulatory requirements related to WSH.
  • Excellent interpersonal and good people management skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong ability to exercise initiative, multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan and execute safety promotion events and activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); and
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Qualification in ECO (SCS) and FSM are added advantage.
