INTRODUCTION

The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), Division of Safety and Permanence, Bureau of Compliance, Research, and Analytics is currently recruiting to fill a Youth Services Research Analyst project position. This position may be filled at the objective (senior) level for training purposes, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Please note: this is a project position with an anticipated end date of April 2, 2028.

This position may allow hybrid work for a portion of the work schedule up to 90% depending on the employee’s preference and needs of the work unit. Any hybrid work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
For positions that do allow hybrid work flexibility, employees may need to report to a DCF office location on short notice. There is no mileage reimbursement when traveling to the headquarter location. Our DCF locations are in the following cities: Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and Rhinelander. Employees need to report to the 201 W. Washington Ave. Madison, WI office or the 635 N 26 St. Milwaukee, WI office on their first day for onboarding and orientation.
High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position creates data reports, conducts simple and advanced statistical analyses, and disseminates findings from these analyses to program and policy staff to provide accurate, up-to-date information about program performance. The research analyst collaborates with stakeholders from the Division, other units within the Department, county human services agencies, and the public to formulate research questions and set their research agenda. The research analyst advanced is the statewide expert in measuring key outcomes for older youth involved in child welfare and youth justice programs and provides key consultation to Division leadership on selecting and constructing measures of program outcomes.

MINIMALLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • Experience designing and/or conducting research and/or evaluation of data analysis within social science research (tools and techniques for collecting and analyzing qualitative or quantitative data, research approaches to human service, workforce development, or child support programs, etc.).
  • Experience creating data visualizations for a range of audiences (research reports, briefs, memos, etc.).

WELL-QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • Experience working with statistical analysis and/or research design methodologies (descriptive statistics, regression analysis, etc.).
  • Professional or direct lived experience working with child welfare and/or youth justice laws, regulations, or practices.
