We are looking for an experienced Tax Staff Accountant to join our team in San Luis Obispo, California. This role involves managing tax compliance and advisory services for individuals, corporations, and partnerships. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of tax regulations, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate and efficient results.

• Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide actionable advice to clients.
• Advise clients on tax-saving strategies, compliance requirements, and planning opportunities.
• Maintain organized workpapers and documentation to support all tax filings.
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and apply updates to client situations.
• Collaborate with team members on challenging engagements and provide guidance to entry-level staff.
• Utilize tax preparation software to efficiently prepare, review, and e-file returns.
• Assist clients during audits or inquiries from regulatory agencies.
• Build strong relationships with clients to ensure high-quality service and satisfaction.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and enhance efficiency in tax processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or actively pursuing certification.
• At least 5 years of experience in tax preparation and advisory services, particularly for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software such as Lacerte, UltraTax, or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with multi-state tax returns and pass-through entity structures is a plus.
